I started working on energy technology in the late-1970s when I was the laborer on a crew installing solar water heating panels. Since then, I’ve been a designer, manager, entrepreneur, and analyst. I spent about half my career at E Source, where I started as a researcher, put in many years running the company’s research department, participated in a management buyout, was on the company’s board of directors, and ultimately sold my stake in 2019. Now, I research and write about new energy technologies, and consult for nonprofits, government agencies, policy makers, and businesses.
